Co-organised by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and the Four Seas Group, and undertaken by the Concerted Efforts Resource Centre, the “Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation x Four Seas Coastal Cleanup Activity” was successfully held on November 30. Nearly 150 employees and relatives of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and the Four Seas Group, as well as young volunteers from the Concerted Efforts Resource Centre, gathered at Shuikou Beach on Lantau Island to help clean up the beach and to promote keeping our shorelines clean.
On the day of the event, the volunteers worked together to clean up the coastal area of Shuikou, collecting a total of about 160 kilograms of garbage, including disposable plastic products, packing paper and plastic bags. They sorted and recorded the collected garbage and handed the data to the environmental organisation “Greeners Action”, which co-organised the event, to help understand the current situation of garbage accumulation in the area.
Dr. Tai Tak-fung, Chairman of the Four Seas Group, stated, “We are honoured to co-organise this coastal cleanup activity with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, jointly promoting the message of coastal protection through practical actions.” He added that as one of Hong Kong’s largest food companies, the Four Seas Group has upheld the spirit of “repaying one’s gain from society back to society” for decades, supporting and participating in various charitable events , including sponsoring fireworks displays and different community activities, sparing no effort to contribute to the community. Looking ahead, the Group will continue to dedicate itself to fulfiling its corporate social responsibility, fully integrating sustainable development into its business operations, and working with employees and business partners to give back to society and jointly build a better Hong Kong.
